This is a basic list of the kit you'll require for a club trip. You should also read the emails about trips carefully since some trips might require more specialist kit. If your unsure you have the right gear for a trip the trip organiser will be happy to help, just send him/her an email.

Food

  • Breakfast and packed lunch for Saturday and Sunday (bring more than you think you need!)
  • Food (cooking hobs available) for Saturday evening (drinks optional)
  • Extra high energy food for emergency rations (e.g. chocolate!)
  • We will stop at a services/take-away on route Friday and Sunday evenings

General - we can provide (limited supplies)

  • Sleeping bag
  • Rucksack
  • Compass

General - you'll need to provide

  • Warm clothes (inc. gloves, hat, a windproof layer etc)
  • NOT jeans! (for the daytime activities)
  • Waterproofs (jacket and trousers)
  • Complete change of clothes
  • Good walking boots or approach shoes (not just an old pair of trainers)
  • Water bottle
  • Torch
  • Personal first aid kit (personal medication, plasters, painkillers etc)

Climbing

All items of climbing equipment can be borrowed from the gear store if you don't have them

  • Harness
  • Belay
  • Helmet
  • Rock shoes
  • If you’re a leader and have rack and ropes bring those too!
