The Committee 2017-2018

It is necessary for any club to have a team of dedicated, experienced and willing volunteers in order for it to function smoothly. Below is the current BUMC Committee, a group of such people that run the club, headed this year by the Chair, Eoghan Wiles. Each committee position has a dedicated role, along with the assisting the general organisation of weekend trips. If you would like to know what each role involves, click here. To contact the committee either email studentmountaineering@lists.bath.ac.uk, or send an email to individual committee members, addresses shown below.

Chair

Eoghan Wiles

Hello fellow mountaineers. My name is Eoghan (pronounced Owen), I’m going to be your BUMC Chair for the next year. I come from a keen mountaineering family and spend a lot of my free time walking and more recently climbing. Outside of mountaineering I am a third year pharmacy student. My other hobbies include running and cycling. Joining BUMC was the best decision I have made since coming to university. I have had some awesome opportunities in the club from learning to climb to experiencing winter mountaineering in Scotland. Over the next year I will aim to try and continue to provide opportunities for both those new to mountaineering and those more experienced. If you have any questions about the club please feel free to contact me. You can get hold of me via Facebook, email or I’ll be in the pub most weeks.

I’m Jonathan, a second year IMEE student from the lake district (the best national park in the UK). I love all types of climbing and the occasional walk, although I’m most commonly found lurking in the depths of TCA. Postgraduate Secretary

Toby Parkes

It has come to my attention, that I am on the committee next year as your first Postgraduate secretary!!! But donít be fooled, this doesnít mean Iím becoming mature or developing a hint of responsibility and I plan on being a nutter with you rowdy bunch of bumbling explorers for the next year! As postgrad sec, it is my role to look after all the old, bolding and slightly senile members of the club who haven’t quite made it to little gitdom yet. So, if you have any questions on how to get involved with the club drop me a message and I’ll get you walking, climbing, bouldering and generally enjoying the company of us bunch of loonies! P.S. If youíre an undergrad and like me you think the rest of the committee look like a sour bunch of grapes you can drop me a line too (postgrads arenít all that scary, honest!)
