Freshers Trip – North Wales

October 23rd, 2012

Once again the club visited Snowdonia for our annual freshers trip, although the weekend was wet it turned out to be another great event to kick off the new year.

The Saturday was a day of walking and scrambling in a mixture of locations and grades. Some of the routes to be done were East Ridge of Y Garn, Main Gully Arete Glyder Fach, Nantle Ridge and Crib Goch. In the evening a superb effort was made by some of the committee members to make a gourmet feast of sausages, mash, veg and onion gravy topped off with bread and butter pudding, Everyone then got involved in the usual games and socialising making for a good evening and a knackering day. A big thanks goes to all the chefs for their hard work!

A big attempt was made on Sunday to get some climbing done but unfortunately the weather was against us. After regrouping, some top ropes were set up at the small crag behind the hut to get the keen freshers out climbing and a few other groups went off walking or scrambling, for what actually turned out to be a nice afternoon.

Overall a good trip to start off the year, though lets hope the weather improves.
